A group of computing students from Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) recently embarked on an educational visit to the City Digital Economy (Macau) Innovation Center, hosted by CTM (Companhia de Telecomunicações de Macau) and Baidu Smart Cloud. The visit provided the students with a unique opportunity to gain firsthand insights into the latest advancements in digital technology and their applications in building a smart city.

The City Digital Economy (Macau) Innovation Center, a collaborative initiative between CTM and Baidu Smart Cloud, serves as a hub for innovation in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, big data, and the Internet of Things (IoT). The center aims to drive Macau's digital transformation and position the region as a leader in the digital economy.

During the visit, the MPU students were introduced to a range of cutting-edge technologies and solutions designed to enhance urban living and economic growth. The event included interactive demonstrations, presentations, and discussions with industry experts from CTM.

Highlights of the Visit:

AI and Smart City Applications: Baidu Smart Cloud showcased its AI-powered solutions for smart city development, including intelligent traffic management, environmental monitoring, and energy-efficient systems. Students learned how these technologies are being implemented to address urban challenges and improve the quality of life in cities like Macau.

5.5G and IoT Innovations: CTM highlighted its role in expanding Macau's 5.5G network and its potential to support IoT applications. The students explored how 5.5G connectivity enables real-time data collection and analysis, paving the way for smarter infrastructure and services.
