With the aim to strengthen international academic exchange and the opportunities to cooperate with internationally renowned universities, and to broaden our students’ opportunities to study and enjoy exchange opportunities overseas, our programme coordinator, Dr. Rita Tse with 7 students spent 10 days (1~12/August/2015) at School of Engineering and Applied Science of the University of California Los Angeles doing research. With the help from Professor Vijay K. Dhir, Dean of the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science of the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), Dr. Giovanni Pau, Dr. Rita Tse, as well as our two CSP Computing Programme alumni (顧騏騏及劉雲雷), our students had successfully completed several research tasks related to the topics “Data Mining in the Social Network for the Gaming Industry” and “Obstacle detection by using micro robot”. Those 2 CSP alumni got their Master's Degree from UCLA and they are currently working in famous IT-companies in USA.
Meanwhile, the students also took a rare opportunity to visit the birthplace of Internet (Kleinrock Center). Our students were welcomed by the father of the Internet, Professor Leonard Kleinrock. Professor Leonard encouraged our students to engage in innovation research activities.
Our Computing Programme is dedicated to establishing friendly relations and cooperation with other higher education institutions. The academic exchange provided an excellent opportunity to expand student horizons and also gave them an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences with other foreign students, as well as consult with the best professors in UCLA about the current events/research in computing field.
